JAMIE RODIGAN – Fya Lion – Mad Them Gyal

By Jamie Rodigan
Release date:

Originally hailing from West London, Jamie Rodigan has grown up with music in
his blood. Being the son of the legendary radio broadcaster Sir David «Ram
Jam» Rodigan music has played a pivotal role throughout his life. He developed
a love for reggae music through his trips to Jamaica in his youth with his father.
He was captured by the sweet sound of reggae music. It’s not just Reggae that
has formed Jamie’s musical foundation. He was exposed to a wide range of
music including Rare Groove, House, Jungle and Garage. His eclectic DJ sets
today reflect these musical experiences growing up spanning Jungle, Drum n
Bass to Reggae and Dancehall.
Jamie started playing music at house parties during his University days. In more
recent times Jamie has been bursting through the scene with notable
performances at Glastonbury, Parklife, Lovebox, Love Saves The Day, Exit Festival,
Outlook Festival, Rototom Reggae Sunsplash, Toddla T’s Carnival Stage for BBC
1Xtra and most recently Boiler Room Festival. Jamie has established himself as
one of the top selectors from the UK.
In 2016 he teamed up with producer and long-time friend Aaron Horn to
collaborate as Crate Classics. Red Bull Music premiered their debut track which
received support from Mistajam, David Rodigan (BBC 1Xtra) and Tom Robinson
(BBC Radio 6) amongst others and saw Mixmag described them as “ones to
watch” for 2016.
They have collaborated with artists including Capleton, Potential Bad Boy, Runkus,
Naomi Cowan, Walshy Fire (Major Lazer) and most recently co-produced
“Woman” for Doja Cat on her new album Planet Her. The track has amassed
over 500 million views, spent several weeks on the Global Billboard chart and
secured two Grammy nominations for Crate Classics. Future collaborations are
set to include Catching Cairo, Doktor, Yung Saber, Jodian Natty and new emerging artists on their Crate Classics label.
